In Livorno(TUscany) in the mid-seventies Fabio Cappanera on guitar, drums and Enzo Roberto Cappanera
Mascolo to bottom, give life to what was to become one of the pioneering heavy metal band Italian. After a
initial period in which the same Fabio handles vocals, joined the band Johnny Salani
the voice then left the band in 1982. In those years there to act as supporters to the likes
BB King, Muddy Waters, John Mayall and always emphasizing their origin "heavy". In 1982 he added
Daniel "Bud" Ancillotti voice and Marcello Masi on guitar, both former Bud Blues Band.
The group gets its first outing on vinyl with the "Saxonian" "non sei normale" in the first
Italian metal compilation HM Eruption, for many the beginning of all the heavy metal movement in Italy.
Main feature: sing in Italian. Then make an appearance at the very first festival of heavy
Italian Metal Fest at Certaldo in May 1983 in the company of Shining Blade, Rollerball, Revenge, Monolith,
Steel Crown, Raff, Vanexa and Death SS. In 1984 they released their first vinyl EP "Strana Officina"
containing four songs sung in Italian. Within the disk appear as traces symbol
"Viaggio In Inghilterra" and "Piccolo Uccello Bianco". That year and their participation to the "Italian massacre" in
Mantua, where, according to the present, Strana Officina with a superior performance obscure the headliner
Vanadium.
In those years the band takes the road of lyrics in English, due to insurmountable problems of
negotiations with foreign labels and in 1987 they released 12 " EP "The Ritual" can count on a good production.
At that time the group was so popular that their concert at the Tent of Florence has more participants
Venom and Exodus those agreed to put together. In 1988 they released the Rock 'n' Roll Prisoner LP.
disk on which transpire many influences from blues to hard rock , rock 'n' roll to the typical British
Heavy Metal. The disc received a fair number of sales and leads to an intensification of live perfomances.
On July 23, 1993 the band suffered a major blow: die in a car accident two brothers Fabio and Roberto
Cappanera, tragic event that lead to the dissolution of the group.
However, from autumn 1993 until 1995, the band held concerts with Dario Cappanera (nephew of the brothers
Cappanera) on guitar, and Rolando Cappanera (son of Robert) on drums.
In 1995 they released the posthumous "Una vita per il rock", containing the whole Strana Officina's Production
(With the exception of Burnin 'Wings, the English version of Piccolo Uccello Bianco).
In 2006 the band reunited for one concert and the place of the late Brother Fabio and Roberto Cappanera
is officially taken by his grandson Darius and his son Roberto, Rolando Cappanera. The reformed band plays
day in the Italian Gods of Metal. In June 2007 they released the collection The Faith, which sets out re-
recordings of old classics of the band with two songs.
In 2010 is out the brand new LP made by original material since 21 years, the first after "Rock n'roll Prisoners"
