Death SS artistically born in 1977, from meeting between Paul Chain (aka Paolo Catena) and Steve
Sylvester (aka Stefano Silvestri). The two share a passion for punk, glam rock, horror movies
and they decide to start a band whose music will be named the same as "horror music". Respect
the paternity of the name, Chain said he had invented punk-style (double S as
provocation), while Sylvester said to have conceived even before meeting with the meaning of Chain
"In Death of Steve Sylvester". The same chain says that the idea of dressing like every member of the group
icon of horror movie was Sylvester: the singer from Vampire, the guitarists from zombie and death, the bassist from
Mummy, the drummer from Wolf Man.

In 1982 Steve left the band and was replaced by Ghoram Sanctis, who plays the role of the Necromancer. At
while Paul Chain began to abandon the occult and to deny the ideals that were negative to
basis of the group, until 'in 1984, after the recording of "Evil Metal", decides to dissolve the group.
Paul did not make it copyrighted 'the band's name it' the pieces composed, he being the main
composer in the band (with Steve songwriter).

In 1988, then Steve can reform the band without Paul, with new musicians, and realize that the presence
record group also proposing songs from the first period. Since then the group will focus on
the charismatic figure of singer Steve Sylvester, the only founding member still present in many changes of
line-ups.

Influences of the group are the gothic tales, horror movies, the character of Alice Cooper and many more. Death
SS has always professed a passion for occult studies (meant in the philosophical sense, nothing to
do with the various sects and fanaticism) with particular respect for the thought of Aleister Crowley, on which the group
devoted an entire album, Do What Thou Wilt(1991).

Musically, the band has never stayed the same to himself start a heavy metal and harsh, their
sound has gone through a period that saw the peak power Heavy Demons, and then was able to reinvent
integrating scores harpsichord and sounds Do What Thou Wilt synthesized in up to a true partnership with the
electronic music that culminates in Humanomalies.

Nevertheless, the group has always been an unmistakable trademark, also thanks to Steve's voice, always
poised between the melodious and the grotesque. Death SS have a good popularity abroad, especially from
be admired by people like King Diamond, a leading figure of Shock Metal.

It has been announced by many sites that the concert the band held in Milan in March 2, 2008
the Italian Gods Of Metal will be the farewell show of the group, resulting in dissolution. Steve Sylvester has
followed by an official statement said on the website of the group that since 2008 the band (which is not
formally dissolve) will take a period of reflection, appearing only in occasional events. The leader
the band has also confirmed the departure from the group's guitarist Emil Bandera, after 10 years
militancy. The Fanzine "IN DEATH OF STEVE SYLVESTER", recently published, tracing the career of
DEATH SS are one of the best journalistic products within Heavy Metal. Were treated by Andrew
Mcflower, Roby Manini and offer the same prestigious collaboration of Steve Sylvester. in any case during
interview dating back to March Steve said that is not the band's career in its entirety to be closed, but
just a cycle 'artistic' ended with the band 's album The 7th Seal(2006), the seventh and final seal.
