Crying Steel is a heavy metal band formed in Bologna in 1982.

Crying Steel born in Bologna in the spring of 1982 from the ashes of the Hard Rock Wurdalak.The founding members are Alberto Simonini (guitars) and Angelo Franchini (low) to which were added Bonzagni Luca (vocals) and, after several line-up, Luke Irons (drums) and Franco Grandchildren (guitar). It is 1983.

After their first demo, which already contains "Thundergods" and "Agony" songs then again at the group, they are noticed by Beppe Riva (Rockerilla magazine) that places them in the compilation "HM Eruption ". In 1984 a new demo is ready, paving the way for the next EP "Crying Steel" in 1985, a true rarity in the music market. For two years after the group enhances the activity performing live throughout Italy: in particular to mention the show to 'Heavy Metal Festival in Bologna in June 1986 with Motorhead and Twisted Sister.

in 1985 another demo was released, only three tracks, followed by 86 demo, a real promotion of their first album "On The Prowl", 1987. Albums certainly revolutionary, at least for the New Wave Of Italian Heavy Metal (NWOIHM), since it is the first to be recorded on CD.

In March 1990 Michele Vanni also lets be replaced by Francesco Di Nicola, and in July of that year the group made a few days in Russia. Followed in 1994 and 2003, some who see the reunion Crying Steel perform in classical education (Simonini / Grandchildren / Bonzagni / Franchini / Ferri).

Are recruited in 2006 by Italian label My graveyards Production "and begin recording the new album," The Steel Is Back "which was released in 2007. Shortly after the release of Simonini drastically decides to leave the group, so much so that not even take part in Release Party, where they combine Crying Steel Max Magagni.

Currently Crying Steel have decided to take a break from live shows to work on the next album.
